David A. Arnold, stand-up comedian and 'Fuller House' writer, died at the age of 54.

 David A. Arnold was also the creator, showrunner, and executive producer of "That Girl Lay Lay," a Nickelodeon live-action comedy.

David A. Arnold, a stand-up comedian and the creator and showrunner of Nickelodeon's "That Girl Lay Lay," died abruptly on Wednesday. He was 54.

"It is with tremendous regret that we confirm the untimely departure of David A. Arnold, our husband, father, brother, and friend," Arnold's family stated in a statement. "David died peacefully today in his home, and physicians have determined that the cause of death was natural causes." Please remember our family in your prayers and respect our privacy at this difficult time; we are all stunned and grieved by this loss."

Insiders in the industry were taken aback by Arnold's passing. He had a working relationship with Kevin Hart, who produced David A. Arnold's second Netflix standup special, "It Ain't for the Weak," which aired in July. The programme consists of routines centred on Arnold's home life, including marital squabbles and entitled children. Arnold performed in the Netflix Is a Joke comedy event in late April and early May, after his Netflix standup debut with "Fat Ballerina" in 2019.

David A. Arnold also created, showrunner, and executive produced Nickelodeon's live-action comedy "That Girl Lay Lay," about an avatar that comes to life to assist a teenage girl and her pals in navigating their lives.

Will Packer Media produced the series, which aired in September 2021 and was renewed for Season 2 in January.

David A. Arnold was on tour with his "Pace Ya Self" comedy show. He was set to do standup in New Brunswick, New Jersey, later this month, as well as in Atlanta and Nashville in early October.

David A. Arnold's previous writing credits include "The Rickey Smiley Show" on TV One, "The Real Husbands of Hollywood" on BET, and Tyler Perry TBS comedy "Meet the Browns" and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne." He's also written episodes of BET+'s "Bigger" and Netflix's "Fuller House."
